This was the first year for this committee. The goal was to raise additional money by direct contact with active C & P members. Specifically, the committee was able to get a designated donation of several hundred dollars from CSU-Fresno--this donation, however, is still in process of being collected. This was in the domain of an institution designating at least $500 for the C & P conference which would give them credit for a certain number of registrations. Additionally, the committee launched its Friends of C & P. These are individual donations (minimum $50). Persons can be listed or listed anoynomously. We got about $600 from that group. Finally, the committee tried to be a bit proactive in contacting directly Council members and other active C & P folks about getting their institution to support the conf via sponsorship either in a block undesignated grant or in a specific donation (e.g., Reception, Program)--either case, the institution is acknowledged. We also received institutional support of $500 from Illinois State and $1,000 from UNC Charlotte as I reported in the financial statement The fundraising committee was also able to get external monies through negotiation with the Curriculum Teachers Network. This group was affiliated with ASCD and I--JIm Sears--was one of the co-founders back in the 80s. Dan Marshall and I met with the leaders at AERA and convinced them to divide the monies up among the five on-going small curriculum conferences, including C &P. Thus, Louise Allen got a check for about $600--This money has been earmarked for graduate student fellowships. Submitted by James T. Sears
