The Curriculum and Pedagogy Group is a gathering of diverse individuals seeking academic enrichment and professional engagement who are committed to educational reform and social change. We seek to create a space in which to advance the ideals of progressive curriculum and democratic leadership in education through dialogue and action. We seek to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds—including academic workers, graduate students, school and district administrators, PreK-12 teachers, and many more cultural and educational workers from community groups and organizations—who hope to analyze, interrogate, and develop theories and practices for educational change and social justice. Due to Covid 19, our 2020 Curriculum and Pedagogy Conference will be online!
Curriculum and Pedagogy Group currently provides three venues through which they push for change: an annual conference, a peer-reviewed journal, and an edited book series.
Please feel free to join with us.
Statement of Solidarity
As educators, we cannot remain silent! The Curriculum and Pedagogy Group expresses its deepest condolences to the Floyd family and the countless others who have been abused, violated, and killed at the hands of the U.S.’s unjust legal system. We must address the structural inequality that perpetuates the impoverishment and political marginalization of Black, Brown, and Indigenous peoples. This inequity at its core is violent and unacceptable.
We understand that our anti-racism work must be based in solidarity, not altruism. As educators, we must condemn inequity and pledge to transform our outrage and grief into a recommitment to develop coalitions and combat anti-Blackness. As a group, we are committed to interrogating these inequities and pledge to work towards dismantling privilege, decolonizing power structures, and investing in movements for racialized peoples with humility, love, and solidarity.
In this time, we stand and support the Black Lives Matter movement as leading the path to follow.
The conference fosters an open and affirming environment for democratic community building, collective scholarship, and social action. Please join us in McAllen, Texas between October 21st and 24th 2020. More details on our conference page.
The Journal of Curriculum and Pedagogy is dedicated to the study of curriculum theory, educational inquiry, and pedagogical praxis. This leading international journal brings together scholars from a variety of disciplines as a means to expand perspectives on educational phenomena.
C&P annually selects an editing team of new and experienced academics to publish a book of papers and art centered on relevant curriculum issues.
